<p>PURPOSE: To correct multiple errors by outputting data demodulated based on a modulation code with a demodulation flag indicating the validity of demodulation, and calculating a syndrome group and an eraser number or the like by using received words by a data group demodulated based on an error correction code. CONSTITUTION: An audio signal is A/D-converted by an A/D converter 101, and data obtained by prescribed compression by a source coder 102 are inputted to an error correction coder 103. Next, the coder 103 can operate double and triple error correction. A C2 code word including a plurality of symbol groups is calculated based on a C2 of first and second read Solomon codes (C1 and C2). The plurality of symbol groups are interleaved in a prescribed sequence by the coder 103, and data C1-encoded based on the C1 are modulated and outputted, based on a modulation code by a modulator 104.
