PURPOSE:To obtain electronic equipment which can be used as a data transmitter or a data transmission auxiliary device by which a general user can easily transmit message information including characters or composed of characters via a telephone line. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 26 reads the character data stored in a message memory 33 in a conversion buffer 37 when it receives a conversion instruction from a key input part 25, converts the data into numerical data by a conversion table 27, converts the data into a DTMF signal by a tone signal generation part 35 and outputs the signal. When the CPU receives the instruction of the designation of a routine sentence and a message No, it forms transmission data successively storing pertinent input information and character conversion numerical data, converts the data into the DTMF signal and outputs it. When the CPU receives transmission data, it discriminates the contents of data, it restores the numerical data to characters by a reverse conversion table 28, retrieves the message No. from a TEL bank memory 34 and registers the message in this No. memory area.
