PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to keep running smoothly even if an objective vehicle is changed in attitude when the vehicle approaches a curved road while the vehicle is running on a road with a plurality of traffic lanes in a vehicular running control device. CONSTITUTION:Signals detected by a radar means 10 are fed to an electronic control means ECU 16, so that reflected signal intensity and a distance interspaced from a vehicle running ahead are thereby computed. Moreover, a vehicle speed sensor 12 and a steering angle sensor 14 are also mounted, and a vehicle speed and a steering angle are detected so as to be fed into the ECU 16. In order to keep the safety distance between vehicles, the ECU 16 allows a vehicle to follow the vehicle running ahead, or to run at a constant speed with a throttle actuator 18 or a brake actuator 20 controlled. When the variation of the distance between vehicles is less than a distance change threshold value, when the variation of reflected signal intensity is less than an intensity change threshold value, and when our own vehicle is running on a curved road, it is judged that the vehicle running ahead is changed from the traffic lane of our own to the adjacent traffic lane, so that a follow-up running mode is thereby changed to a mode for keeping running at a present vehicle speed.
