ELECTRODELESS FLUORESCENT LAMP

PURPOSE: To provide an excitation coil for an electrodeless fluorescent lamp having a core made of insulating material. CONSTITUTION: A coil 16 is made of a metal 20 of low-heat expansion coefficient plated with a metal 22 of a high electrical conductivity. An insulating coating 24 is performed on the plated metal. One example of coil 16 is made of molybdenum wire plated with silver and finally coated with alumina. As a result, its form is kept even in a high operation temperature, thereby its impedance is kept over the lamp operation range to provide the heat-stable excitation coil 16.
