<p>PURPOSE: To produce a supporting body hardly exhibiting a mottled pattern, induced by drying while eliminating the need for a coalescing agent by providing a barrier layer consisting of a vanadium pertoxide antistatic agent and a specified material. CONSTITUTION: The antistatic agent containing the vanadium pentoxide and the supporting body containing the barrier layer of a heat thickening polyacrylamide polymer, having a hydrophilic functional group and applied thereon, are incorporated in a substrate for a photographic element. The vanadium pentoxide antistatic layer is prepared by applying a colloidal aq. soln. of the vanadium pentoxide. Preferably, the vanadium pentoxide is doped with silver. The hydrophilic functional group of the heat-thickening polyacrylamide polymer is selected, so that a desired barrier characteristic and especially the adhesion to the layer applied thereafter, for example hydrophilic colloidal layer, especially gelatine-containing layer and also the desired heat-thickening behavior are obtained.</p> |
