PURPOSE:To provide the electronic musical instrument which can vary the timbre of a musical sound based upon a musical sound signal in a smaller musical sound waveform memory according to a velocity. CONSTITUTION:As for the electronic musical instrument equipped with a memory means 14 which stores musical sound information and a musical sound signal generation part 3 which reads musical sound information corresponding to pitch name information out of the memory means 14 and generates the musical sound signal from the read musical sound information signal, the musical sound signal generation part 3 has plural output systems 18 consisting of filters 18 having mutually different frequency characteristics, and also has a musical sound signal output part which outputs musical sound information signals read out of at least two output systems 18 corresponding to velocities among the output systems 18 and an amplitude control means 15 which controls musical sound amplitude signals included in the musical sound information signals according to the velocities.
