PURPOSE:To provide a low-priced multimedia communication network by connecting communication information between a subscriber system transmission line and a relay transmission line through a signal processing trunk correspond ing to the kind of communication information. CONSTITUTION:As the signal processing trunk to work digital signals according to a control signal applied from a subscriber system transmission line 3A, an image encoding trunk 6A is connected to a switch circuit 7A. This system is provided with a connection control means in a control circuit 8A so as to connect the communication information between the transmission line 3A and relay transmission lines AB and AC through the trunk 6A corresponding to the kind of connection information. Since the image signals of multichannels can be selected, synthesized or compressed corresponding to an instruction from the subscriber side, it is not necessary to individually provide any signal processor for multimedia. Thus, since the quantity of down information can be reduced, the transmission line 3A over a wide band is not required, and the multimedia communication network can be provided at low cost. |
