PURPOSE: To enable safe use of an existing charger by sensing a battery operation parameter for the application of a battery system in response to sensed parameter. CONSTITUTION: A negative temperature coefficient resistor Rθand a resistor R2 , operating in combination therewith are specified to begin to become continuous at a predetermined temperature. Next, a large charging current (rapidly charging current) is transferred to a switching transistor T1 from cells 11, 12. Namely, heat is generated in a voltage-absorbing resistor R1 branched from the cells 11, 12 and the temperature of a battery pack rises due to thermal coupling. Due to the contact between a temperature sensor 18 and a box 10, the temperature for rejecting high-speed charging current of a charger 16 or delta temperature function can be effected. In some cases, a total charging current is branched to assure safe and quick charging, even for a charger which is not fully protected for charging. Thereby, the existing charger can be used safely.
