<p>A method of effectively purifying a styrene polymer by adding a poor solvent or a mixture thereof with a swelling agent to a syndiotactic polystyrene, produced by using a catalyst composed of component (A) comprising aluminoxane or a coordination complex of a cation with an anion composed of a metal and a number of groups bonded thereto and component (B) comprising a transition metal compound, and treating the resultant mixture while controlling the moisture content to be in the range of 15-10,000 ppm, thereby effecting catalyst deactivation and demineralization. This method serves to remove the remaining metal efficiently without the necessity for using any demineralizing agent, and provides a high-quality crystalline styrene polymer with a high purity and an excellent color tone.</p> |
