Instead of changing a flat tyre, a device (18) is provided which comprises a circular plate (20) of a diameter substantially equal to that of the tyre (11), provided with a rubber or the like rim (22) allowing the driving of the automobile thereon in substitution of the flat tyre (11). A segment portion (20a) of the plate (20) is hinged thereto so that it is foldable away of the plane of the plate (20). The plate (20) is mountable to the wheel drum (12, 14), means being provided for securing the segment portion (20a) to the plate (20) in the non-folded position thereof after driving the automobile by a short distance. A modified version of the device is applicable to snow or sand driving. <IMAGE> |
