PURPOSE:To ensure high-resolution, high-quality printing on ordinary kinds of paper by making a construction of heating means for impressing thermal pattern to a thermal transfer material, temperature detecting means and bias heating means for controlling bias temperature in accordance with signal. CONSTITUTION:On standby, a thermistor has a high internal resistance RT and the output of an amplifier 503 becomes accordingly large so that a large voltage is applied to a bias heating unit 504 for generating heat. With heat temperature rising close to bias point T1, the internal resistance Rt of a thermistor becoms small. With the heat temperature rising very close to the bias point T1, a bridge is balanced, the output of the amplifier 503 decreases to zero, and no voltage is impressed to a bias heating unit 504 so that heat generation is stops. A very short standby time is required until heat temperature reaches the bias point T1 because of a small head. Next, when printing is started and a print heating unit 403 is supplied with power, the energy generated by the printing heating unit is added to the heat energy generated by the bias heating unit 504 so that a higher temperature than the melting point of the transfer material is reached for ensuring printing of the head 403. |
