PURPOSE:To make the projecting part at the opening of an open-close cover smaller and consequently improve maintenance workability by a method wherein a screening mechanism is shifted to a second position, at which the screening mechanism does not screen laser beam, by means of a hinge mechanism for opening and closing an outer box. CONSTITUTION:Links 12 and 13 support an open-close cover 11 rotatably through about 180 deg. to a main body device side as the open-close cover 11 is opened. Since the links 12 and 13 rotates only through the angle, which is as half as the turning angle of the open-close cover 11, the amount of the downward projection of the open-close cover 11 at its rotation through 90 deg. can spare smaller as compared with that of the conventional open-close cover directly provided onto the main body device or no hindrance is constituted at the attachment and ditachment of a process cartridge. Further, since the position of the center or rotation shifts together with the opening and closing of the cover, the amount of the downward projection is extremely small through the rotation of the cover through 180 deg.. At the same time, since no amount projects into the maintenance space in the device concerned, maintenance workability can be improved. |
