PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized inexpensive ink jet recording apparatus efficiently using a solvent used in the washing of a nozzle and having sufficient nozzle washing function. CONSTITUTION:When a nozzle 7 is washed, a solenoid valve 6 is closed and the solvent in a solvent container 13 is sucked by a recovery pump 9 to be supplied to the nozzle 7 through solenoid valves 16, 17 to push out the ink in the nozzle 7 into a gutter 8 and, thereafter, solenoid valves 15, 16 are closed and a solenoid valve 10 is opened to recover the ink in an ink circulating container 11. Subsequently, the solenoid valve 10 is closed and the solenoid valve 16 is opened to supply the solvent to the nozzle 7. At the start time of next printing, a solenoid valve 18 is opened to recover the solvent on the upstream side of the nozzle 7 in the solvent container 13 to reutilize the same. Therefore, the amt. of the solvent getting mixed in the ink circulating container 11 after the use in the washing of the nozzle is reduced and the ink circulating container 11 and the solvent container 13 can be reduced in volume. |
