PURPOSE:To provide a calcium carbonate dispersion through a specific method, capable of giving a food composition excellent in long-term preservability when added to a food like cow milk for the purpose of Ca enrichment because of being highly excellent in the dispersibility in liquid. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, an aqueous CaCO3 suspension with pH X prepared by carbonating milk of lime with CO2 is agitated and wet-ground and/or left at rest to raise the pH level of the suspension to a value Y satisfying the relationship: Y>=8.6 and the relationship I. Second, the alkaline matter in said suspension is removed therefrom and/or the concentration of such alkaline matter is decreased to adjust the pH level of said suspension to a value of Z satisfying the relationship II (when Z is 8.6, calculating as 8.6), thus obtaining a hydrous CaCO3. Then, a hydrophilic emulsifier >=10 in HLB number is added to the hydrous CaCO3 as the base material to obtain the objective dispersion satisfying the relationship III for the weight-average diameter P (mum) of each CaCO3 particle in CaCO3 particle size distribution and the Q pts.wt. of said emulsifier added per 100 pts.wt. of the CaCO3. |
