PURPOSE: To increase the heat-sensitivity efficiency, and improve the color purity by constituting an infrared absorbing substance of a non-spherical plate-form metallic silver colloid on the surface of which, silver is electroless-plated, in a dye donor element wherein a dye layer containing a sublimation type image coloring matter and the infrared absorbing substance, is carried by a supporting body. CONSTITUTION: This dye donor element for a laser induced thermal dye transfer in order to obtain a print from an electronically generated image of a color video, has a supporting body which carries a dye layer wherein a sublimation type image coloring matter and an infrared absorbing substance are contained in a binder, on the surface. Then, the infrared absorbing substance is heated by the heat of a laser beam, and the dye in the vicinity is transferred to an accepting body. In this case, the infrared absorbing substance is constituted of a non-spherical plate-form metallic silver colloid, and the colloid is formed by electroless-plating silver on the surface of a core of which the diameter is less than 20 nm. By this constitution, an absorbing substance of which the heat-sensitivity efficiency and the coating force are large is obtained, and the transfer performance is improved. |
