PURPOSE:To provide a method for heat transfer recording wherein a solid article such as a corrugated board and an article with a rough face can be directly transferred and the transfer can be automatically performed. CONSTITUTION:A method for heat transfer recording consists of a process wherein a heat transfer recording medium 1 prepd. by providing an ink layer. on a substrate is carried to the first transfer position and an image pattern is printed by heating on the first medium 2 to be transferred and a process wherein after the heat-printing process, the heat transfer recording medium is continuously carried to the second transfer position and the remaining pattern on the ink layer on the heat transfer medium is heat-transferred by pressing onto the second medium 3 to be transferred.
