PURPOSE:To perform efficient printing by changing the form of data so as to automatically perform monochromatic printing when multicolor printing can not be performed between facsimiles. CONSTITUTION:Whether or not an opposite machine is provided with a multicolor recording function is discriminated by detecting the state of bits inside a nonstandard protocol. When it is discriminated that the opposite machine is provided with the multicolor recording function by discrimination, a multicolor mode is set and multicolor data are transmitted. On the other hand, when it is discriminated that the opposite machine is not provided with the multicolor function by the discrimination or when no nonstandard protocol is exchanged with the opposite machine, a monochromatic mode is set and picture information is turned to monochromatic data and transmitted. |
