This invention relates to a gear unit, which comprises two parallel double-harmonic gears. The torque transmission capacity of the gear unit is relatively high if the gears are coupled together and provided with a common sprung rim 2, both ends of which are provided with a double-harmonic gear in such a way that cogs 3a, 3b on the outer surface of the rim are in engagement with peripheral teeth 4a, 4b and cogs 5a, 5b on the inner surface are in engagement with pinion shafts 6a, 6b. A ring 7, which is placed between the cogs, serves as a primary ring, from which torque is transmitted to the sprung rim through a bearing 8, and either of the coupled cogs, which are in engagement with the rim cogs, can serve as a secondary shaft whilst the other takes up the difference between the secondary and the primary torque. <IMAGE> |
