PURPOSE:To estimate the consumption of a developer and to execute prescribed warning by estimating the consumption of the developer with a density setting value set according to the kind of a process cartridge and integrating/storing the estimated consumption. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge identifying sensor S3 identifies the fact that the fitted process cartridge is a negative cartridge or a positive cartridge and each value is inputted to a variable for recording the estimated toner consumption of the selected cartridge. In a density setting part 43, a resistance value at a set density position is converted into a digital value from an analog value by a converting circuit and inputted to the variable to which the estimated toner consumption on the set density is inputted. Whenever processing for a copy is executed, a toner consumption is added to the cumulative toner consumption of a device main body and the fitted cartridge and when residual toner approaches zero, a residual toner display is turned on to display. |
