PURPOSE: To provide a serial communication port structure for starting and stopping and internal clock. CONSTITUTION: A serial input/output port is provided with a part for deciding the selected number of data bits, which are to be transmitted to an external device, a part 6 for generating clock pulses which are just sufficient for transmitting the decided and selected number of data bits, a part for starting the generation of the clock pulses for transmitting the decided and selected number of data bits and a part for stopping the generation of the clock pulses immediately after the generation of the clock pulses which are sufficient for transmitting the decided and selected number of data bits.
