The applicator for adhesive or mastic consists of a pump with a series of micro-chambers which can deliver a line or strip of the viscous material from a reservoir (7) through a nozzle (4) movable relative to the surface to which the material is being applied. The distance between the reservoir and the workpiece surface (R) is kept short, and the pump incorporates a valve which closes the nozzle and recirculates the viscous material when necessary.The applicator can have two inlet chambers, situated on either side of a distributor with a shutter controlled by mini-power cylinders. The material is dispensed by applying a pressure to the chambers.
