PURPOSE:To increase the output of a motor and at the same time facilitate production thereof by utilizing the expansion and contraction of a piezoelectric element so as to be able to rotate a rotor with a different system from the conventional system. CONSTITUTION:This piezoelectric element driven motor has an elastically deformable cylinder 1 with a circular cross-section, into the inner part of which a rotor 2 having an elliptical outer circumference is inserted, and a plurality of piezoelectric elements 4 are arranged radially in the outer circumference of the cylinder 1, and the plural piezoelectric elements 4 are driven by a piezoelectric element driving unit 5 sequentially in the order of the circumferential direction to push the rotor 2 through the cylinder 1 in the radial direction, thereby rotating it. This motor driving method includes the steps of arranging the plural piezoelectric elements 4 radially in a circumference, rotatably providing the elliptical rotor 2 therein, arranging two of radially arranged piezoelectric elements 4 in the radial direction of a circumference in a pair and driving each pair of piezoelectric elements 4 by a piezoelectric element driving unit 5 sequentially in the direction of a circumference. |
