PURPOSE:To prepare a chelate resin which is great in the adsorption of metallic ions and much lowered in the concn. of the metallic ion in adsorption equilibrium in an aq. soln. of salts in a high concn., by reacting a resin having a nitrile group with an amino compd. as a chelating functional group forming agent and water. CONSTITUTION:A chelate resin is formed by reacting a resin having a nitrile group with an amino compound having a prim. or or sec. amino group. The reaction is carried out in the following manner: The starting resin is (1) reacted with water and the amino group in an amt. >=0.5mol. each per nitrile group in the presence of the both at the same time at 110 deg.C or above or (2) reacted with the amino compound in the absence of water at 70 deg.C or above, so that the resulting aminated resin can be reacted with water at 110 deg.C or above. The pref. resins having a nitrile group include homopolymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile or vinylidene cyanide. The pref. amino compounds include ammonia, alkylamine and polyalkylenepolyamine. |
