PURPOSE: To provide a less-expensive device facilitating a free motion of a steering column in a forward or rearward direction or an upward or downward direction and capable of positively fixing the steering column at a predetermined position as desired. CONSTITUTION: A locking device for a vehicle adjusting type steering column assembly is provided with a first disc member 10 and a second disc member 11 which can be engaged to each other. Each of the disc members is provided with toothed regions 17, 18 passed through each of the windows 19, 20 of the other disc member and engaged with the corresponding portions of the steering column. A spring 12 is inserted between the two disc members to push them apart, the toothed contour segment is pulled in to pull the toothed contour segments inwardly to have an effect to disengage off the steering column assembly. |
