PURPOSE:To ensure detection of collision by avoiding mix up of acceleration of a closing door with the acceleration at the time of coming into collision. CONSTITUTION:This air bag device for an automobile is composed of an acceleration sensor 1, which detects the acceleration taking place when coming into collision from the side of an automobile, and an air bag module 2 which operates in accordance with an ON signal which has detected collision of the acceleration sensor 1. Interposed between the acceleration sensor 1 and the air bag module 2 are a switch 3 for detecting the opening and closing of the door and control means 7, 8 which set the air bag module 2 in its unoperating condition by receiving a door opening signal 4 from the switch 3 and set the air bag module 2 in an operating condition affer a specified time from the time of receiving a door closing signal 6 from the switch 3. |
