METHOD OF REMOVING ACID SOLUBLE OIL FROM SULFONE CONTAINING MIXTURE

PURPOSE: To remove acid-soluble oils(ASO) from an alkylation catalyst by mixing a sulfone-containing mixture containing sulfone compounds and ASO with sufficient amounts of water to form an ASO phase and a sulfone phase containing water and a part of sulfone compounds and separating the two phases from each other. CONSTITUTION: A part of the sulfone-containing alkylation catalyst 26 separated after the reaction is fed to a stripping column 44 through a conduit 42. The bottom stream of the column 44 is discharged to a mixing means 52 through a conduit 50, water is supplied to the restricted mixing zone of the means 52 through a conduit 54. The obtained mixture of water and sulfone compounds is fed to a phase separator 60 through a conduit 58. The separator 60 has separation zones for separating it into the ASO phase 62 and the sulfone phase 64. The phase 62 is sent to the next step through a conduit 66 and the phase 64 is fed to a rectification column 70 through a conduit 68.
