LASER RESISTANT IN TRACHEA INSERTION TUBE

PURPOSE: To provide a laser-resistant protection to a wider range of trachea by producing a laser-resistant layer around the inserting tube to be inserted into the patient's trachea to feed air and by providing to the laser-resistant layer with reflectors to scatter-reflect the laser energy. CONSTITUTION: This inserting tube 10 to be inserted into trachea has the proximal end 11 connecting a connector for connecting to a ventilator and the distal end 12 to which a mahain 14 to be inserted into the patient's trachea is fitted. An expandable cuff 15 is set at the middle part of the inserting tube. This 15 is designed so that it can be expanded by pouring either inert gas or saline solution thereinto via a tube 17. In the vicinity of this cuff 15, a protective collar made of tear-off resistant impermeable material is coupled with the inserting tube 10. The laser-resistant layer 19 is made almost throughout the entire inserting tube 10, including this protective collar. This laser-resistant layer 19 is formed by reflectors multi-directionally apart from each other and having many surface unevennesses to scatter-reflect the laser energy.
