This frequency standard comprises a heating coil (58) placed around a jacket (43) delimiting a microwave resonance cavity (42). This coil is intended to carry heat to an absorption cell (41) placed in the said cavity. The absorption cell (41) is surrounded by electrodes (45a to 45d) serving to enhance and to orient the oscillating magnetic field in the region of the absorption cell (41). Heat-conducting members (47a to 47d) connect the electrodes (45a to 45d) to the jacket (43) of the resonance cavity so as to guarantee better control of the temperature of the cell whilst retaining the advantages procured by the electrodes (45a to 45d).
