Prepn. of a decorative coating based on a coloured decorative substance on a substrate, is claimed. The decorative substance is coloured for the prepn. of a leather effect decorative coating. The coloured decorative substance is diluted with a solvent, and applied on the substrate. It is heated then above room temp.Pref. the solvent is an alcohol.
