To obtain a high-molecular-weight polyimide or block polyimide copolymer solution composition by a single-stage reaction by directly imidizing an acid dianhydride and an aromatic diamine in an organic polar solvent, the acid dianhydride and the aromatic diamine are subjected to polycondensation in the presence of an acid catalyst.
