By removing the cause of gas generation from an electrostatic shielding layer, this tube provides an improved luminance. If a fixed voltage is supplied to a line cathode (15) and an electrostatic shielding layer (13), thermoelectrons emit and a grid (14) focuses and accelerates them, so that they land at an electrostatic shielding layer to generate luminesce from the fluorescence layer. At this point the electrostatic shielding layer absorbs the emitted electron beam and doesn't let the beam reflect. So this tube prevents an electrostatic shielding layer from decreasing the luminance. The electrostatic shielding layer laminates an insulation layer (21) which comprises SiO2 and black dyes, and transparent conductive layer (11) on a rear board (17) in order.
