The cooker (10) has upper and lower heating elements and side rails supporting dishes (30) on grids (113) at selected levels. A similarly supported shallow case (20), dividing the oven into upper (111) and lower (112) compartments, contains a flat water tank, U-shaped in plan, supplying two generator units, one at the rear, the other placed centrally, between the legs of the U. Each unit contains a heating element connected to a plug engaging in a socket in the rear oven wall, and delivers saturated steam the first upwards (22) at the rear, and the other (21) downwards, centrally. The generator/divider may rest on, and deliver steam directly into, a lower cooking vessel.
