PURPOSE:To quickly and accurately detect an end point without relatively moving an object such as a bar stock, a wire, etc. CONSTITUTION:A contour part where the end part is present is quickly specified by picking-up the image of the two-dimensional image of the object, extracting the contour line 101 of the object from the image, tracking the contour line 101 by two points P1(i) and P2(i) separated at prescribed interval and detecting the minimum value of the ratio (r) between a straight distance Ls between the two points and a distance Lw along the contour line 101. Furthermore, a point on the contour line which is the farthest from a straight line connecting the specified two points, is detected to accurately detect the end point of the object. Furthermore, the contour line 101 of the object is tracked by the two points to detect the minimal value of the ratio (r) so as to decide not less than one end part candidate to detect an end point candidate concerning each one and thereafter a point whose distance from the centroid of the object is maximum is judged to be the end point. |
