Preparation of silk-printing screen

The screen (2) is formed with multiple closely spaced transverse holes (11). The screen is in the form of a drum and is rotated past three main stations, which are angularly displaced one from the other. The first station (28) uses a jet of compressed air to clear all the holes in the screen as it rotates past.The screen then passes a station (20) that deposits a liquid or paste that fills every hole in the screen as it passes. The third station uses either suction or air jets from a row of controllable fine nozzles to selectively remove the liquid or paste from some of the holes. This is computer controlled on a line by line basis to produce the required screen patterns to form characters or images.
