The switching method involves using a synchronisation signal which is correlated with a beginning of an information cell received via an exchange input stage (HTE) from an input line (EL). The transfer of the successive information cells to an output line (AL) coupled to an exchange output stage (RPCE), via a coupling network (ASN) with a number of intermediate coupling stages (SE), is effected in synchronism with the synchronisation signal.The information cells are fed to the input stage in a synchronous transfer mode frame, each information cell extracted from the latter is correlation with a synchronisation signal provided at the beginning of each information cell.
