EXERCISE DEVICE

An exercise device (10) for developing and toning hand, arm, wrist and upper body muscles is disclosed. The device (10) defines a frictional rotation exercise stick which includes a mounting bar (12) upon which two handgrip elements (14) are rotatably mounted. Located between these two handgrip elements is a center stop collar (53) fixed to the mounting bar (12). A cylindral weight (26) is screwthreaded onto each end of the mounting bar (12) and end stop collars (28) are disposed between the weights (26) and the handgrip elements (14). Compression bias elements (32) and friction elements (44, 45) are provided between the end stop collars (28) and the handgrip elements (14) to provide an increase in rotational resistance of the handgrip elements (14) in response to a tightening of the cylindrical weights (26).
