Travel path inclination evaluation system for vehicle

The inclination evaluation system uses rotation sensors associated with at least one wheel of each wheel axis for determining the wheel velocities. The absolute value of the slip difference and the vehicle displacement are calculated. The sign of the slip difference between the wheel axes is determined. The sign of the slip difference is used in conjunction with the sign of the displacement to discriminate between a level road and an upwards or downwards incline. Pref. during the measurement a number of wheel rotation rates are measured and the mean value employed.
