A heat generator assembly (84) in a material processing apparatus (10) includes a heater unit (18) and an elongated deflector structure (86) mounted adjacent thereto. The heater unit (18) includes a plurality of elongated electric heating elements (20) extending in generally parallel relation to one another and being operable for emitting heat radiation. The deflector structure (86) is disposed along the electric heating elements (20) and in circumferential relation partially about the electric heating elements (20) for deflecting the heat radiation in a desired direction away from the heating elements (20).
