Method of winding length of paper onto reel

The roll of paper is formed from a moving length from the same central drive mechanism, wound onto a drum (1) of the same width. A magazine (3) accumulates drums (4) each acting as a core for the roll (6). The drums's axles are gripped by two pairs of carriages (7, 1, 7.2). The two pairs pass each other when travelling between the winder position of one drum, and its discharge position.A starting drive mechanism starts a drum before it reaches its winding position, and consists of a drive belt producing frictional contact with the drum's outer surface. The central drive mechanism has synchronised linear drive pieces.
