<p>In order to discipate energy from a high pressure fluid without causing damage and environmental nuisanse, such as noise, an energy loss device is used. This device includes energy loss paths including void areas arranged to draw energy from the high pressure fluid as it passes through the path. These paths may also include turns and other features to enhance energy loss. Discs 32 are clamped together and have sinuous paths therebetween of various shapes.
