The invention relates mainly to a keyboard for a harsh environment and to a cooking appliance incorporating such a keyboard. The subject of the invention is a control keyboard including a high-frequency generator or a radio-frequency generator (5), especially a generator tuned to a frequency lying between 150 kHz and 1.2 MHz, and at least one key comprising at least one antenna (7) for transmitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves or radio-frequency waves connected to the said generator (5), characterised in that the said key includes a receiving antenna (8) placed in line with the site for detecting the presence of a control finger (16) and means (31, 40) for comparison of the level of the signal picked up by the said receiving antenna (8) with respect to a reference value or to a range of reference values. The invention applies mainly to the production of keyboards for cooking hobs, with upper vitro-ceramic plates and with ovens for cooking food. <IMAGE>
