Aerial inputs pass radio signals to a processor (33) which passes information to a memory (16) or to a hard disc or optical disc (6) for longer term storage. The unit is controlled by a microprocessor (4) and a keyboard (17). Outputs signals are applied to a liquid crystal display screen or a loudspeaker (39). An editor (9) controls operations. Speech for transmission is translated to digital signals via an electroacoustic transducer (13) and a processor (15), then to an RF signal processor and aerial for transmission. USE/ADVANTAGE - Transmitted information can be received on LC screen without needing to be printed out, thus minimising paper wastage.
