Liquid phase reactor for contacting gases and liquids - optimises the component phase hydrodynamic reaction residence time for bio-technology and carbon chemistry

A liquid phase reactor brings gas into contact with a liquid by means of a mixer within a multi-stage unit sub-divided into zones of enhanced phase dispersion. The novelty is that a number of bases (2) are incorporated within the vessel (1) and separated by baffles (3) each forming a process section; that a rotor (4) is located within each process section and that the rotors are linked by a drive shaft (5); further that the rotors are located either between a base (2) above and a lower baffle (3) or between an upper baffle and a lower base. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process brings gas into contact with a liquid esp. in the conversion of synthesised gas to liquid products, and liquid-liquid extraction. Particular applications are biotechnology and carbon chemistry. The component phase hydrodynamic reaction residence time can be optimised.
