The light box includes at least two colour fluorescent tubes (2,3,4) which are disposed to illuminate an information carrier (10) via a collection reflector (8) and a projection reflector (9). The tubes are cold or hot cathode tubes. The fluorescent tubes are provided with coloured foil wrapped around their outer glass surface, or they may have colour fluorescent material on the inside. The brightness of the tubes is controlled (5) by a central unit (6). Alternatively, the tubes may contain different gases corresp. to different colours.
