A vehicle having an internal-combustion engine, a generator which can be driven by said engine, a rotary store for coping with peak demand and at least one electric drive motor. The electric drive motor and/or the rotatary energy store each have: - a stator (2) provided with conductors and a rotor (32) provided with permanent magnets (30), which are arranged with a gap between them, - at least one sensor (38), provided on the stator (2), which detects the relative position of the stator (2) and of the rotor (32), - an electronic switching device, controlled by the sensor (38), which produces an electrical connection between the conductors (10) and a current source or current sink, depending on whether the relative position of the stator (2) and of the rotor (32) is consistent with drive or generator operation.
