<p>PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of a reproduced image by smoothing jags of an edge of a character, etc., and further sufficiently reproducing thin lines and isolated dots. CONSTITUTION:Image data 11 are inputted to a pixel window scanning circuit 12. The pixel window scanning circuit 12 outputs image data 13 of 7X7 pixels centering on a pixel to be processed. A fine pixel generating circuit 14 converts input data on one center pixel into eight fine pixel data 15 and outputs them in parallel. The fine pixel generating circuit 14 generates the eight fine pixel data 15 in a main scanning direction on the basis of the center pixel and peripheral pixel data so as to make the edge of the reproduced image smooth, eliminate the thickening or thinning of thin lines, or reproduce the input image on a printer without the blurring and erasure of an isolated dot. A parallel-serial converting circuit 16 converts the eight fine pixel data, inputted in parallel, into a serial data sequence to output a laser modulation signal 17.</p> |
