PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM AND ITS APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus capable of advancing and retreating an optical fiber preform without advancing and retreating burners. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing an optical fiber preform is to apply plural burners 3 from the radial direction of the optical fiber preform 1 according to an outside vapor deposition method. The optical fiber preform 1 is retreated in the direction opposite to the arrangement side of the burners 3 as the optical fiber preform 1 is grown and enlarged in the radical direction thereof. Thereby, the interval (L) between the tips of the burners 3 and the surface of the optical fiber preform 1 is kept at a desired proper distance.
