PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a reception signal when a best branch is selected at a base station by sending plural diversity signals received by a repeater to the base station through one optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A radio signal from a terminal equipment 1 is diversityreceived by a repeater 2, the radio signal is converted into an optical signal and the optical signal sent through an optical fiber 3 to a base station 4 is converted into the original radio signal. In the communication system as above, the radio signal from the terminal equipment 2 received by plural antennas 8, 9 is converted into FM wave signals with a different center frequency for each of the paths 8, 9, after each FM wave is subjected to frequency multiplexing and the result is converted into an optical signal and sent through the optical fiber 3 to the base station 4. Then the optical signal is converted into an FM wave at the base station 4 and a path having best signal quality is selected. |
