PURPOSE:To enhance corrosion resistance and toughness by specifying the ratio of R to M where R is an element selected from one or more of rare earth elements and M is selected from the group consisting of transition elements including Co and futher replacing a part of M with Cr, Ni, etc. CONSTITUTION:A magnet composition essentially consists of R selected from one or more of rare earth elements and M selected from the group of transition elements including at least Co, with such alloy RMz (z=6.8-9.0) having the specified ratio of 2:17. Further, a part of M is replaced by a single element or mixture of Cr and Ni in atomic ratio of 0.01-0.15. Thus, the composition is to be Sm(Co, Fe, Cu, Zr), with the contents in the parenthesis each being 0.72, 0.15, 0.10, 0.01, etc. Or, the composition may be Sm(Co, Fe, Cu, Zr, Cr), the contents being selected as 0.71, 0.15, 0.10, 0.03, 0.01, etc. In this manner, an enhaced antioxidation property and improved toughness are obtained. |
