PURPOSE:To lengthen the cycle service life of a battery by using a carbon material capable of storing and releasing a zinc ion as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:In a battery BA1, a carbon material capable of storing and releasing a zinc ion is used in a negative electrode 2. Coke, preferably, an organic substance baked body formed by baking refined coke, cellulose or the like having purity of not less than 99%, graphite, glass-like graphite or the like are used as this carbon material. As an ideal carbon material, a (d) value (d002) of a grid surface (002) in X-ray diffraction is set not less than 3.35Angstrom , and the (c) axial directional crystallite size (Lc) is set not less than 10Angstrom . |
